How long do you cook pork chops in the Instant Pot?

How many minutes it takes to cook pork chops in the Instant Pot depends on the cuts you use. Here are some simple guidelines.

Boneless Pork Chops – 10 minutes like this recipe. Bone-in pork chops – 15-18 minutes for 3/4-inch to 1-inch thickness. Pork Steak – 1 inch bone-in pork steak for 20 minutes.

In addition to the recommended cooking time, you’ll need to budget for the time it takes for the Instant Pot to come to pressure before the cooking time begins. In most cases, this takes 5 to 15 minutes.

Is it okay to overcook pork in a pressure cooker?

In this case, yes. Unlike pork butts (such as the kind used to make Instant Pot carnitas), which tend to become more tender the longer they cook, pork loin chops have less fat and can be overcooked. Instant Pot pork chops will be tough if overcooked, so be sure to use thick enough pork chops and pay attention to the proper cooking time.

Tips for the best Instant Pot pork chops

Whether you’re a seasoned Instant Pot pro or just getting into the swing of things, I think we can all appreciate a perfectly cooked pork chop. Here are some tips at the end.

First, grill the pork. Browning pork chops before pressure cooking locks in moisture and makes the meat tender and juicy. However, if you use frozen pork chops, you cannot sear them first. Uses thickly sliced pork belly. Thicker cuts are less likely to overcook. We do not recommend cooking thinly sliced (1/4 inch) chops in the Instant Pot. Be careful when opening the lid of the Instant Pot, as the steam will be hot. Use oven mitts if necessary.
